[Class 44] A sash fastener for windows or other sliding parts comprises a fitting on one sash in which is rotatably mounted a member having a recess adapted to embrace a member of corresponding shape rotatably mounted in a fitting on the other sash so as to engage the first member on closure of the window &c. ; on turning one member through 180 degrees the other member rotates with it and the window is thereby locked. The figure shows the two fittings displaced for clarity each being in the angular' position appropriate to locking. The embracing member d is of U or V section and is provided with a spindle frictionally held in position by means of a spring f, nut g and washers. The complementary member n is mounted in a shaped member k in similar manner and may be rotated through 180 degrees by means of a lever m having limited lost motion connection with the spindles. The shaped member k is pivoted at p on plate j so that it may be swung inwards to prevent engagement of the member n with cross-pieces on the window. The rear end of the member k is flanged to limit rotation in the outward direction. According to the Provisional Specification the member k may be hinged about, a horizontal axis. |
