The electric pump (1) comprises a motor member (6) predisposed to operate in rotation a pump shaft (8) about its longitudinal axis (A), at least one pump stage (4) comprising an impeller (9) joined to the pump shaft (8) and a diffuser member (71) fixed relatively to the impeller (9), and a cooling device (10), to cause the circulation of a cooling liquid through a circuit affecting the motor member (6). The coolant is moved by rotation of the shaft (8) along a central channel (24) along the main axis (A) towards a discharge opening (26) where the fluid by virtue of rotation is sprayed over the rotor (62) and the stator (61) of the motor member (6), thus providing a closed loop cooling cycle for the electric motor wherein frictional losses are substantially reduced.
