[Class 52 (ii)] A bed settee is constructed so that it may be moved from settee position to bed position by raising and subsequently lowering the seat section. The back plate 8 at each side is carried from a fixed support 7 by a pair of pivoted arms 9, 10 and the back plate 8 has also pivoted thereto a seat plate 11 which has a pawl 13 pivoted to it at 14. The pawl 13 engages a keeper 19, 20 fixed to the seat plate and a tumbler 16 is pivoted to the pawl at 17. As shown in Figs. 1 and 6 the keeper 19, 20 is locked in the notch by the nose 23 of the tumbler 16 which is kept in raised position by the keeper engaging a shoulder 21 on the tumbler. To move to bed position the seat and back are rotated on their arms 9, 10 about the support 7 until the back is horizontal. Further raising of the seat plate 11 moves the pawl 13 so that the keeper 19 moves into'the outer portion of the notch allowing the tumbler 16 to fall by gravity into the position shown in Fig. 3. Clockwise movement of the seat plate 11 to bed position causes the notch of the pawl 13 to disengage the keeper 19, 20 and the pawl 13 rides into the position shown in Fig. 4. Reversal of the operations restores the device to settee position. |
