PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a compression ratio when compressing background image data.SOLUTION: An image processing device includes: a separation unit for separating background image data representing the background of a target image from target image data representing the target image; a preprocessing unit for executing preprocessing for compression on background image data to generate processed background image data; and a compression unit for executing compression processing on the processed background image data to generate compressed background image data. The preprocessing unit includes: a determination unit for determining whether or not a background color included in the background image data is a color approximating a specific color; and a color count reduction unit for executing color count reduction processing to reduce the number of colors included in the background image data. The color count reduction unit executes first color count reduction processing when the background color is a color approximating the specific color, and executes second color count reduction processing when the background color is not a color approximating the specific color. |
