The invention relates to a protection device having a flexible textile fabric (2), which can be displaced between an extended protection position and a resting position, wherein the textile fabric (2) is connected to a dimensionally stable extension profile (3) on the front face region of the textile fabric in the extension direction. The extension profile is mounted in a longitudinally displaceable manner on the opposite side of the extension profile to a guide structure (6, 7), which is arranged affixed to the vehicle in the operating state. A control cable (15) is installed in every guide structure (6, 7), which control cable engages on a slide-mounted slide element (25) in the guide structure (6, 7). The slide-mounted slide element is connected to the extension profile (3) such that a torque, initiated by a point of engagement of the control cable (15) on the slide element (25) in the extension profile (3) and a counter-torque, initiated by the textile fabric (2) in the extension profile (3) are designed relative to a longitudinal axis of the extension profile (3) extending crosswise to the extension direction such that the slide element (25) and the extension profile (3) are held in balance during a displacement movement. |
