According to the present invention, a backlight unit includes: a light source generating light; and a light guide plate changing a path of the generated light to output the light. The light guide plate includes a light guide pattern formed in parallel with the light source, and of which at least a portion forms a waveform in a longitudinal direction. The above-described configuration of the present invention enables the light to be transferred to a display panel uniformly.
