The present invention relates to a digital device and a controlling method thereof. The method comprises the steps of: setting a first mode on the basis of a first folding angle between a first body and a second body, and a second folding angle between the first body and a third body; displaying a first application in the first mode; detecting changes of the first folding angle and the second folding angle in the first mode; detecting that the changed first folding angle is equal or more than a first threshold angle and the changed second folding angle is below a second threshold angle; and converting the first mode into a second mode when detecting a back surface of the second body is contact with other real object. The second mode displays the first application on a first area, and displays a second application related to a first object contained in the first application on a second area.
