The assembly drum for a green tyre comprises members (8) which are disposed circumferentially around a main axis (4) of the drum and are mounted so as to be able to move in the radial direction with respect to the axis. Each member carries supports (20) which: - are able to form an outer face of the drum, - are mounted so as to be able to move with respect to one another on the member in a radial direction with respect to the axis, - are mounted so as to slide with respect to the member in a direction parallel to the axis so as to vary a dimension of the outer face in the direction parallel to the axis, and - are articulated with respect to one another such that, when they form the outer face, they are in mutual abutment in order to remain immobile under the effect of a stress that is exerted in the direction of the axis. |
