PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device of an automatic continuously variable transmission which can detect an abnormal engagement of engagement elements at an earlier stage.SOLUTION: An ECU 60 of an automatic continuously variable transmission comprises working-pressure solenoid valves 33c, 33e, a control part 64, and a synthetic current detection circuit 63. The working-pressure solenoid valves 33c, 33e adjust the hydraulic pressure of a working fluid supplied to a clutch of the automatic continuously variable transmission and that of a working fluid supplied to a brake thereof, respectively. The control part 64 controls the drive of the working-pressure solenoid valves 33c, 33e. The synthetic current detection circuit 63 detects a synthetic current Is which is obtained by adding a supply current Ic to the working-pressure solenoid valve 33c to a supply current Ie to the working-pressure solenoid valve 33e.
