A rotor of an electric machine according to the present invention includes a segment which comprises a plurality of magnet insertion parts formed at regular intervals in a circumference direction; and permanent magnets which are inserted into the magnet insertion part of the segment. The width of both ends of the permanent magnet is narrower than that of the magnetic insertion part of the segment. By the rotor of an electric machine according to the present invention, the permanent magnet can be easily and smoothly press-fitted into the magnetic insertion part of the segment.
