The present invention relates to a mobile terminal and a control method thereof, capable of reducing inconvenience of setting a timer whenever a repetitive or stepwise timer is needed in everyday life. According to the present invention, the mobile terminal comprises: a display unit for displaying content; and a control unit for detecting items to set a timer from text included in the content, sorting and displaying the detected items in the display unit, and displaying the timer in each displayed item.
