The IC has a first circuit stage (MPC) and second circuit stage (EBOR) that is necessary for or that assists in the emulation of the first stage. The second stage has logic for setting and monitoring the attainment of certain conditions in the first stage. Memory or register contents, data, addresses and/or control signals of interest occurring in a time window are continually stored in a trace memory in the second stage.
