The present invention relates to steel-made guide pulleys for wire drawing wherein at least the working surfaces of these pulleys are provided with thin protecting layers based on titanium boron and carbon (TiBC) in combination with titanium diboride (TiBi2). In order to secure perfect adhesion of both the layers of TiBC and TiBi2 to the steel substrate, an intermediate layer of titanium nitride (TiN) is applied as the first followed up with the application of a central layer consisting of titanium, boron and carbon (TiBC), containing boron and titanium nitrides and the protecting nanocomposite multilayer is terminated by an upper layer of titanium diboride (TiBi2), wherein said protecting nanocomposite multilayer thickness is in the range of 2 to 3 microns. The thickness of the lower layer of titanium nitride (TiN) does not exceed 0.5 microns. In preferred embodiment, the central layer, consisting of titanium, boron and carbon (TiBC) is formed by several layers disposed one above other with individual upper layers of titanium diboride (TiBi2) regularly situated therebetween, wherein the protecting nanocomposite multilayer is terminated by an upper layer of titanium diboride (TiBi2). |
