Various embodiments of the present invention are to check whether an earphone is inserted into an ear jack terminal or a foreign substance is inputted into the ear jack terminal. An electronic device according to the embodiment of the present invention may include the ear jack terminal comprising a plurality of terminals, and a processor which measures impedance for at least one terminal among the plurality of terminals, and detects whether there is the foreign substance in the ear jack terminal, based on the measured impedance.
