Disclosed are an image processing method and an apparatus thereof. The apparatus according to an embodiment uses characteristic that similar shapes are distributed in an image, to restore holes in the image. Because embodiments use the characteristic that similar shapes are distributed in an image, calculation complexity for restoring the holes can be reduced. The image processing method includes a step of obtaining the characteristic and a step of restoring the holes.
