Disclosed are an apparatus and a method for detecting malfunction of a motor current sensor. The apparatus comprises: a signal processing unit extracting a DC voltage from an output voltage of a current sensor to sample the current voltage and to convert the same to a digital sampling value; and a malfunction determination unit determining whether the current sensor is faulty by using the digital sampling value and a pre-configured reference value. Accordingly, the apparatus is able to precisely determine whether the current sensor is faulty so that an appropriate protection operation is possible after the current sensor is determined to be faulty. Therefore, the apparatus is able to safely protect a driver. |
