A dose setting mechanism comprising a first element (60) and a second element (110); the first element (110) being moveable with respect to the second element (60); the first element (60) and the second element (110) being coupled by a ratchet mechanism (220) allowing motion of the first element (60) with respect to the second element (110) from a first position to a second position only in a first direction while preventing motion in a second direction that is opposite to the first direction; once passing the second position, the first element (60) being moveable with respect to the second element (60) in the first direction and in the second direction.
