PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a settling pond capable of making constant the ratio of outflows from a front stage trough and a rear stage trough, even in the case where the inflow to the settling pond varies, thereby to eliminate a dead water region.SOLUTION: In a settling pond 1, the inflow of supernatant water to a front stage trough 5 disposed in a front stage settling pond 2 and a back stage trough 6 disposed in a back stage settling pond 3 is over-flown by a free fall, and the overflow load and the overflow shape are made identical in the front stage trough 5 and the back stage trough 6 and are disposed in the settling pond 1 so that the inflow water rate of the settling pond 1 fluctuates. Even if the water level fluctuates, the overflow conditions to flow into the front stage trough 5 and the back stage trough 6 change in proportion, so that the outflow ratio can be made constant, and an opening 8 is disposed in the trough lower portion to discharge the raw water in the dead water region thereby to prevent the corruption of the raw water.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
