摘要 In order to provide a technique enabling viewing by a user at the optimum focal point by objectively determining an image suitable for observation and presenting the result of determination to the user, an endoscope video system (100) is provided wherein a scope (2) has a two-focal-point switching unit for switching between focal points in response to a focal point switching operation by the user. An autofocus unit (11) of a video processor (1) calculates a focal point evaluation value on the basis of endoscope picture data. A CPU (15) compares a focal point evaluation value obtained prior to focal point switching and a focal point evaluation value obtained after switching, and assesses which focal point is appropriate on the basis of the comparison result. A picture output unit (14) outputs the endoscope picture data to an observation monitor (3) on the basis of the result of assessment by the CPU (15). The two-focal-point switching unit of the scope (2) returns to the state of the focal point prior to switching in accordance with an instruction from the video processor (1) when the CPU (15) assesses that the focal point prior to switching is appropriate.
