<p>Artificial joints (100) wherein the mating surfaces (104 and 102) are both non-metallic, preferably plastic, even more preferably polyethylene and even more preferably ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene. Because neither of the bearing surfaces (108 and 110) of the artificial joint are made of metal, there is a potential for greatly reduced wear, and consequently, a potential for reducing the number of joint replacement surgeries.</p> |
