Provided are a method and an agent for effectively preventing the corrosion of a metal such as a steel material and a copper material in various aqueous- and steam-borne plants including a boiler plant while preventing the formation of bubbles in the plants. A corrosion-preventing agent comprising at least one compound selected from the group consisting of saturated fatty acids each having 8 to 12 carbon atoms, saturated fatty acid salts each having 8 to 12 carbon atoms and saturated fatty acid esters each having 8 to 12 carbon atoms is added to a fluid in each of various aqueous- and steam-borne plants including a boiler plant. Saturated fatty acids each having 8 to 12 carbon atoms exhibit an excellent corrosion-preventing effect and undergo the formation of bubbles to a significantly recued extent compared with corrosion-preventing agents each mainly composed of a fatty acid other than the above-mentioned saturated fatty acids. |
