Generating synchronization signals for wireless communication systems

The present disclosure relates to a method for facilitating synchronization in a wireless communication system. A number sequence of length L is defined. The number sequence is mapped on a first set of discrete Fourier frequency coefficients. A second set of discrete Fourier frequency coefficients is generated by frequency shifting the first set of discrete Fourier frequency coefficients. The second set of discrete Fourier frequency coefficients is transformed into a time domain signal.

1. A method for facilitating synchronization in a wireless communication system, comprising:
defining a number sequence du[n], n=0, 1, . . . , L−1, the length of the number sequence being L, the number sequence being centrally symmetric around an element n=(L−1)/2 of the number sequence, L being an odd positive integer and n denoting an element index of the number sequence; mapping the number sequence on a first set of discrete Fourier frequency coefficients {tilde over (H)}u; generating a second set of discrete Fourier frequency coefficients Hu by frequency shifting the first set of discrete Fourier frequency coefficients {tilde over (H)}u by m shifts, where m is an integer except zero; transforming the second set of discrete Fourier frequency coefficients Hu into a time domain signal; and transmitting the time domain signal for facilitating synchronization in the wireless communication system.
