1. A last member having a medial side, a lateral side opposite the medial side, a forefoot portion, a heel portion opposite the forefoot portion, a midfoot portion disposed between the forefoot portion and the heel portion, and an upper instep portion extending through a top of the midfoot portion and the forefoot portion, the last member further comprising:
a plurality of retractable pins extending from an outer surface of the last member,
wherein each pin of the plurality of retractable pins includes:
an exterior terminal end and an interior terminal end opposite the exterior terminal end;an extended position and a retracted position, wherein the exterior terminal end is closer to the outer surface of the last member in the retracted position than in the extended position;wherein the plurality of retractable pins are divided into a first set of retractable pins and a second set of retractable pins, wherein the first set of retractable pins are aligned with each other along a straight line that extends longitudinally on the upper instep portion of the last member and wherein the second set of retractable pins are aligned with each other along a straight line that extends along a rearwardly facing portion of the heel portion; a plurality of springs, wherein each spring of the plurality of springs is disposed at the interior terminal end of one of the plurality of retractable pins in a position that is beneath the outer surface of the upper instep portion of the last member, wherein the respective spring biases the respective pin in the extended position; and a plurality of vacuum holes disposed on the outer surface. |
