PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing device or the like which is capable of easily detecting a height of a cross-sectional position at which a slice image is captured.SOLUTION: An image processing device 30 comprises: an image data recording part 302 which acquires an observation image including a slice image of a fertilized egg housed in a housing container, which is captured by focusing the fertilized egg at a cross-sectional position orthogonal to a height direction and a marker image of a marker provided for the housing container; a marker image extraction part 321 which extracts the marker image from the observation image; a reference marker image recording part 303 in which a reference marker image obtained by capturing the marker while a distance between a reference position in a height direction and a focusing position of the imaging device is changed along a height direction is recorded; a similarity calculation part 322 which calculates similarity between an extracted marker image and each reference marker image; and a height detecting part 323 which detects a height of the slice image based on a reference marker image having the highest similarity.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
