PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power transmission system for reducing the cost and loss, by suppressing surplus frequency conversion or AD conversion, in a power transmission system for transmitting power generated by offshore wind power generation or ocean power generation by low frequency AC power, and to provide a control method therefor.SOLUTION: A power transmission system has a converter 2 for converting AC power generated by a wind power generator into DC power, an inverter 4 for converting the DC power into low frequency AC power lower than the commercial frequency, a transmission cable 5 for transmitting the low frequency AC power, and a cyclo converter 7 for converting the frequency of the low frequency AC power to the commercial frequency at the receiving-end of the transmission cable 5. The cyclo converter 7 transfers such an AC power that the transmission cable 5 side is a frequency of 1/3 of the system voltage, and the AC voltage value on the transmission cable 5 side is equal to an AC voltage command value Vref, from the transmission cable 5 side to the load system 8 side.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
