PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent incorrect determination in chromatic color determination of a document caused by positional displacement of pixels of images for each of color components constituting a read image obtained by reading a document to be copied for each of the color components.SOLUTION: There is provided an image processing apparatus that forms a read image obtained by reading an image formed and output onto a recording medium for each of color components and outputs the read image onto another recording medium, and includes: an edge detection part that detects an edge of each of the color components constituting the read image; a positional displacement determination part that determines positional displacement of pixels of an image for each of the color components constituting the read image on the basis of a result of the detection of an edge for each of the color components; a color determination part that determines whether or not the read image is composed of chromatic colors on the basis of the read image from which pixels with the occurrence of positional displacement have been excluded; and an image formation and output part that forms and outputs the read image onto another recording medium according to output settings according to a result of the color determination.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
