Provided is a catalyst for dehydrogenation reactions, which exhibits high catalytic activity in a dehydrogenation reaction. This catalyst for dehydrogenation reactions contains: an alumina carrier that contains alumina particles and silica that adheres to the alumina particles; and platinum that is supported by the alumina carrier. The amount of adhered silica per unit weight of the alumina particles is from 3.0 × 10-5 mol/g to 1.0 × 10-3 mol/g. It is preferable that the amount of adhered silica per unit weight of the alumina particles is from 4.0 × 10-5 mol/g to 5.0 × 10-4 mol/g. It is preferable that the number of acid sites per unit weight of the catalyst for dehydrogenation reactions is 250 μmol/g or less. It is preferable that the ratio of supported platinum in the catalyst for dehydrogenation reactions is 0.1-5.0% by weight. |
