Provided are a position detection device, drive device, and scale member for position detection capable of detecting the rotary position and linear position of a driven member through the detection of the movement of a common member by a linear encoder and rotary encoder. Specifically, in a position detection device 10, a first scale 21 for a rotary encoder 20 and a second scale 31 for a linear encoder 30 are laminated on the peripheral surface 1a of a scale member 1 that moves integrally with a driven member that rotates around an axis L and moves linearly in the direction of the axis L, and a first sensor 22 for rotary position detection and second sensor 32 for linear position detection are held by a fixed body so as to oppose the peripheral surface 1a of the scale member 1.
