PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a discharge failure of a nozzle without a wasteful resource consumption.SOLUTION: An image forming device includes: a head 110 having the nozzle for discharging an ink droplet; a line sensor 121 disposed in a position facing a nozzle face of the head 110; and image comparison means 103 comparing an image of the read nozzle face to the nozzle face in normal state to determine the state of the nozzle face based on the comparison result.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
