Provided is a method for producing a high-strength stainless steel seamless pipe for oil wells having excellent corrosion resistance and excellent low-temperature toughness. A steel material is configured to have a composition that contains 0.005-0.05% of C, 0.05-0.5% of Si, 0.2-1.8% of Mn, 0.03% or less of P, 0.005% or less of S, 15.5-18.0% of Cr, 1.5-5% of Ni, 1.0-3.5% of Mo, 0.02-0.2% of V, 0.001-0.050% of Al, 0.001-0.15% of N and 0.006% or less of O such that these elements satisfy specific relations; and a seamless steel pipe is obtained by carrying out heating in a steel pipe material processing step and heating in a hot forming step under such temperature conditions that austenite phases during heating are at least 10% in terms of volume fraction; and after that tempering, wherein the seamless steel pipe is heated to a temperature of 700°C or less, is carried out. |
