A method including forming a reservation signal comprising a first part and a second part; dividing data carried on a Physical Downlink Shared Channel (PDSCH) into a first portion and a second portion; and transmitting the reservation signal by a base station in a first cell on a channel during a section of a first subframe. The section is less than the entire first subframe. The first part of the reservation signal is configured to reserve the channel between the base station and a user equipment (UE). The first portion of the data is transmitted on the second part of the reservation signal. The second portion of the data is transmitted in a following subframe. A size of a sum of the first and second portions is about equivalent to a length of the first subframe.
