A connector system (100), comprising an adapter body (112) having a first locking component (140), a flange (114) extending around the adapter body (112) and having a first engagement surface (116), and a locking ring (120) configured to be installed around the adapter body (112) and having a second engagement surface (122) and a second locking component (150); and the first locking component (140) and the second locking component (150) are configured to respond to the locking ring (120) and to rotate within an angle less than or equal to 90 degrees relative to the adapter body (112) for mutual engagement so as to position the first engagement surface (116) at a position a predetermined distance away from the second engagement surface (122).
