<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a thermal head to perform printing with two kinds of resolution. <P>SOLUTION: The thermal head includes first resistors 41, second resistors 42, and third resistors 43. The first resistors 41 and second resistors 42 are connected in series by first wiring 51, and connected to a first common electrode 61. Two third resistors 43 are connected in series by second wiring 52, and connected to a common electrode 62. The first common electrode 61 and second common electrode 62 are connected to a power source selectively through a switch. The second resistors 42 and third resistors 43 are arrayed linearly to form a second heat generation area. The first resistors 41 form a first heat generation area. The power source is connected to the first common electrode 61 and a medium to be printed is pressed against the first heat generation area to perform printing with low resolution. The first common electrode 61 and second common electrode 62 are connected to the power source alternately and the medium to be printed is pressed against the second heat generation area to perform printing with high resolution. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
