A method of repairing at least part of wind turbine blades (10, Figure 1) includes the steps of dividing or mapping at least the leading edge (16, Figure 2b) of a blade into one or more portions, removing at least part of a portion of the blade, the at least part of the portion of the blade replaced and/or substantially covered with one or more prefabricated portions 38 and/or parts thereof. The prefabricated portions may include one or more layers of fibreglass matting. A system for on-site repair of turbine blades includes removing part of the leading edge of the blade and replacing it with a pre-manufactured or pre-assembled section that corresponds to the removed part. A modular and/or prefabricated section of a wind turbine blade corresponds to part of a leading edge of the blade, correspondence being achieved by 3D scanning or mapping of the blade. A method of manufacturing turbine blade leading edge sections includes moulding one or more components to form the leading edge in a particularly thin shell or skin in order to cover at least part of the leading edge. |
