摘要 An overhead power structure 1 for a vehicle 100 comprises a trolley 10, a plurality of generally tubular and parallel segments 2,3 forming a track along which the trolley runs, a power source connected to the tubular segments, and a cable 110 mechanically and electrically connecting the trolley to the vehicle 100. A sensor creates a first signal indicative of a measured characteristic of the cable 110, and a controller receives the first signal and generates a first response. The sensor may measure either an angle or tension of the cable and output the first signal if a predetermined threshold is exceeded. The outer tubular segments 3 may be rail segments along which guide wheels of the trolley run. The inner tubular segments 2 may be conductor tubes that form conductors for a power grid 20, which may be a three phase AC grid. The trolley may include a base that runs below and parallel to the power structure. A switch or a turntable may be provided to change the direction of a portion of the track. The turntable may include a plurality of track portions and be turned to change the track direction according to a selected portion (figures 6-9).
