The invention comprises compounds of formula where X is isopropyl or sec.-butyl, and Y is hydrogen or methyl. Examples are given of the preparation of the four possible compounds from the appropriate phenol and either formaldehyde or acetaldehyde (or a substance yielding these aldehydes).
