<p>A method for augmenting transient or stable expression of a foreign gene in cultured eukaryotic cells comprises transfecting a host cell with a foreign gene of interest and with a nucleic acid sequence encoding a bHLH protein or active fragment or homolog thereof, such that expression of the foreign gene is either increased or prolonged or both. The method can be used to produce large amounts of a transgenic gene product in cultured cells. Vectors for carrying out the method are also provided.</p> |
