A mixed reality information and/or entertainment system for use onboard a vehicle, the system comprising headset 10 for placing over a users eyes, the headset including a screen, image capture means for capturing images of the real world environment 42, 50 in the vicinity of a user, and a processor to generate a selected three-dimensional virtual reality environment and blend images of the real environment into the 3D virtual environment to create a mixed reality environment. The mixed environment is displayed on the screen. The system further comprises a control function for enabling selection of portions of the images of the real world environment and the processor is further configured to, in response to control signals from the control function, selectively remove the selected portions from, or blend the selected portions into, the mixed reality environment. The user may be able to select or manipulate elements of the virtual world using hand gestures. |
