662,375. Thermal regenerators. AKTIEBOLAGET LJUNGSTROMS ANGTURBIN. July 11, 1949 [July 9, 1948], No. 18250/49. Class 64(i) In a rotary regenerator having a cylindrical rotor divided by partitions into compartments containing closely spaced heat transfer plates 16 parallel to the direction of fluid flow, each plate is formed over substantially its entire area with a multiplicity of perforations 30, the metal from which remains attached to the body of the plate along at least one edge of each aperture and is bent back to form fins 31. The perforations allow fluid to pass from side to side of the plates and so avoid their rupture during cleaning by jets of highpressure steam or other fluid. The apertures may be trapezoidal. A stack of plates may be bonded together, e.g. by brazing the fins to adjacent plates. A soot blower with one or more rotating nozzles is located above the rotor. |
