PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the suppression of metal agglomeration as to a catalyst, and the efficient formation of a three-phase interface in a catalyst layer of a fuel battery electrode by using, as a catalyst component, a conductive polymer including a thiophene skeleton having a sulfo group or phosphate group.SOLUTION: A fuel battery electrode catalyst of the present invention comprises: a metal; carriers each including a carbon-containing material or an oxycarbonitride of a transition metal; and a conductive polymer including a thiophene skeleton having a sulfo group or phosphate group. The metal is platinum or a platinum alloy. The metal is supported by part or all the carriers. The metal and the part or all of the carriers are covered with the conductive polymer. The catalyst of the present invention can be manufactured by a method comprising the step of arranging the part or all of the carriers to support the metal, and the step of covering the metal and the part or all of the carriers with the conductive polymer, in this order.SELECTED DRAWING: None |
