PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device capable of detecting abnormality of a microcomputer during low power consumption even when no monitoring signal is output from the microcomputer.SOLUTION: A control device includes: a microcomputer which communicates with an external device at a normal operation mode and whose power consumption becomes low at a low consumption mode; a monitoring circuit for monitoring a state of a microcomputer on the basis of a monitoring signal output from the microcomputer at the normal operation mode; and a start circuit for controlling driving of the monitoring circuit. Communication signals input and output in the communication between the microcomputer and the external device includes dominant and recessive. The start circuit monitors the communication signals, and puts the monitoring circuit into a monitoring state when the communication signals include the dominant in the case when the microcomputer is in a low consumption mode. The monitoring circuit put into the monitoring state determines that abnormality occurs in the microcomputer when the monitoring signals are not input.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
