PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing system capable of identifying a stair-like edge and a pattern-like edge in an image and applying nonlinear smoothing processing to the image, an image processing method and a program.SOLUTION: The image processing system comprises: an acquisition part which acquires image data; an analysis part for calculating an edge strength on the basis of a stair-like strength indicating a degree of deviation between a first parameter indicating a first gradient based on pixel values of peripheral pixels included in a first range defining a pixel of interest in the acquired image data as a reference and a second parameter based on either diffusion based on the pixel values of the pixel of interest and the peripheral pixels or a second gradient based on the pixel values of the peripheral pixels included in a second range wider than the first range; and a smoothing processing part for applying the nonlinear smoothing processing to the pixel values of the pixel of interest and the peripheral pixels included in the first range on the basis of the calculated edge strength.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7 |
