Provided is a production method which is capable of efficiently producing a high-quality polarizer having a non-polarizing part. A method for producing a polarizer having a non-polarizing part according to the present invention comprises: a step wherein a liquid is brought into contact with one surface of a long polarizing film laminate which is provided with a polarizer and a surface protective film that is arranged on one surface of the polarizer, and which has an exposure portion on the one surface side, from said exposure portion the polarizer being exposed; and a step wherein the polarizing film laminate is immersed in a basic solution after the liquid contact step. In one embodiment of the present invention, the liquid is the same basic solution as the above-mentioned basic solution.
