Apparatus for an underwater camera comprises a housing having a body portion and a transparent rear portion. The body portion has a narrower front end and a wider rear end. The housing may be closeable to provide a watertight interior cavity, and openable to provide access to the cavity. The apparatus includes an arrangement for removably mounting a camera within the cavity and may include an image transmission line extending from the cavity to the exterior of the housing, for transmitting signals representing images from the camera to the exterior of the housing while maintaining the watertight integrity of the interior cavity of the housing.
