The invention relates to a method and a device for determining a position and a direction of travel of one or more water craft sailing in water from interferometry radar data, in which the water craft and the water surfaces surrounding the water craft are represented. The proposed method comprises the following steps: providing (101) the radar data as 2D interferogram data INT1(x, y); segmenting (104) the 2D interferogram data INT1(x, y) to determine segmented 2D interferogram data INT2(x,y), the segmented 2D interferogram data INT2(x,y) only comprising 2D data regions (Bn) of the 2D interferogram data INT1(x, y) that each reproduce a cohesive fringe pattern, where n = 1, 2,...; determining (106) a contour for each of the 2D data regions (Bn); determining (108) a focus for each of the 2D data regions (Bn), the position of a water craft being determined on the basis of the focus for each of the 2D data regions (Bn); determining (109) a geometric orientation of the fringe pattern represented in the data of each 2D data region (Bn) relative to an image axis of the 2D interferogram data INT1(x, y); and determining (110) the direction of travel of the respective water craft for each of the 2D data regions (Bn) depending on the determined orientation of the fringe pattern and the determined shape of the contour of the respective 2D data region (Bn). |
