The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus of controlling driving speed of a treadmill using a depth measuring sensor. More specifically, the present invention relates to a method and an apparatus of driving a treadmill, wherein the method and the apparatus are capable of controlling driving speed of the treadmill, controlling a gradient of the treadmill, and extracting and storing kinematic variables of a user by using skeleton data of the user obtained from a depth measuring sensor. The method of driving a treadmill according to the present invention includes a step of setting a standard distance based on skeleton data of a user on the treadmill obtained by a depth measuring sensor, and a step of controlling a driving speed of the treadmill based on the standard distance and a distance between the user and the depth measuring sensor during driving of the treadmill.
