The present invention relates to a duplicate payment prevention apparatus of a taxi payment device and a method thereof, capable of preventing software collision due to duplicate payment between europay mastercard visa (EMV) cards inserted through an EMV card insertion hole comprised on a bottom plane of the payment device and payment through an RF antenna installed at a front during payment. The duplicate payment prevention apparatus includes: an RFID reader to read an RF card read out through the RF antenna during the payment; an EMV reader to read the EMV type card inserted into a card slot during the payment; a proximity sensor to detect approaching of the EMV type card; and a main control part which prevents duplicate payment of the EMV type card and the RFID type payment by controlling an operation of the RFID reader depending on detection of the EMV card by the proximity sensor during the payment. |
