A drive unit 50 for a vehicle 11 includes a drive unit spindle. The drive unit spindle extends along an axis A1 for connecting the drive unit 50 to the vehicle 11. The drive unit 50 further includes a plurality of wheel assemblies 500, 502, 504, 506. Each of the wheel assemblies has a hub (70, figure 3) that is removably supported by the spindle along the axis A1. At least one of the wheel assemblies 500 includes a wheel which rotates about the hub and a motor connected to the wheel to rotate the wheel about the hub. The wheel assembly 500 may be mounted to a bicycle 100 supported by a bicycle spindle 106 on axis A2. The vehicle 11 may include a jack 12 to allow transfer of the wheel assembly 500 between the vehicle 11 and the bicycle 100. The wheel assembly 500 may comprise batteries which are recharged from the vehicle 11 when the wheel assembly 500 is mounted thereon. |
