PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress deformation of a cylinder head due to a head gasket, in an internal combustion engine having a cylinder block of a closed deck structure.SOLUTION: In an internal combustion engine 1, a head gasket 7 is interposed between a block side fastening surface 5 of a cylinder block 2 of a closed deck structure and a head side fastening surface 6 of a cylinder head 3. The head gasket has: two pieces of substrates 51, 52; and a shim plate 53 interposed between the substrates, and including a thick part 57 formed in an annular shape so as to surround a cylinder bore. The cylinder head has: a combustion chamber recess part 20 formed on the head side fastening surface; an injector hole 31 extending to a side surface of the cylinder head in the cylinder head from the combustion chamber recess part; and a recess part 80 formed so as to include a portion in which the injector hole overlaps with an outer peripheral edge 57A of the thick part when viewed from a direction orthogonal to the head side fastening surface in the head side fastening surface.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
