PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem in which convenience of a user is insufficient in conventional walking assist devices.SOLUTION: A walking assist device comprises: a frame body 10; drive wheels 12 provided in the frame body 10; a handle part 16 to which a weight of a user is applied; a load detection sensor 15 provided between the frame body 10 and the handle part 16 for detecting a load and a load direction applied to the handle part 16; and a control part 11 provided in the frame body 10, for controlling the drive wheels 12 according to load information input from the load detection sensor 15. The control part 11 locks the drive wheels 12 when the load information indicates that a load is applied in a direction to press the handle 16 against the frame body. The control part unlocks the drive wheels 12 and controls the drive wheels in accordance with the load direction when the load information indicates that a load is applied in a direction to separate the handle part 16 from the frame body.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
